File a Claim for Unemployment Insurance

There are two ways to file a claim for Unemployment Insurance:

1. To file a new claim, or to refile/reopen an existing

To file a claim by telephone, please call (401) 243-9100 during call center business hours:

Monday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday: closed
Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Fridays: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

You will need to provide the following information in order to file an Unemployment Insurance Claim.

  • Social Security Number
  • Full name, address and telephone number of all employers you have worked for in the last 18 months.
  • If you are not a US citizen, you will need your alien registration number.

Please be sure you have all of the above information BEFORE calling to file your claim.
