The unit administers examinations to electricians, hoisting engineers, pipefitters, refrigeration technicians, fire protection sprinkler fitters, sheet metal workers, plumbers and telecommunication system contractors and installers.
Examinations are administered monthly at the Department of Labor and Training Building #73.

Hoisting Engineers operate power construction equipment that uses steam, internal combustion engines, electric or compressed air of 5 horsepower or more and/or lift more than 500 pounds.
Occupations under the Mechanicals group include Pipefitters, Welders, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics, Fire Protection and Sprinkler Installers.
Plumbers install clay, concrete, plastic or cast-iron pipe for drains, sewers and water mains.
Irrigators prepare and install piping for lawn sprinklers and the irrigations of golf courses and farms.
Occupations in Telecommunications include telecommunications line installers and repairers, communication equipment mechanics, installers and repairers, and sound engineering technicians.
