Youth Worker Certificate Training Program
BEST Initiative (Building Exemplary Systems for Training Youth Workers)
This 32-hour professional development program offers interactive training with expert instructors and networking opportunities with youth development peers. The BEST certificate allows you to master core competencies critical to the youth work field, and is recognized by many institutions of higher education.
Curriculum:
Positive youth outcomes •Adolescent developmental stages • Cultural competence
• Adultism and stereotypes of youth • Professional portfolio development
2010 SCHEDULE
Training sessions will be held at the RI Department of Labor and Training, 1511 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the following dates:

To earn the BEST certificate, you must attend all five sessions. |
Availability is limited. Acceptance to the program is based upon the following three factors: 1) an active connection to the RI statewide youth system; 2) the scope of youth services provided by your agency; and 3) the effectiveness of your programming in preparing youth for the contemporary labor market.
