We have expanded the Donley Center Aquatic Therapy program by adding a full time aquatic physical therapist, Robin Katzanek. Using the physical properties of water to improve healing and exercise performance, aquatic therapy is effective for recovery from acute, post-surgical and chronic pain.
Robin earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Boston University, a Master of Arts in Sport Sciences and a PhD in Education from the University of Denver (Colorado).
Before joining the Donley Center, Robin gained over 20 years of experience in various aquatic therapy settings. Most notably, she was the Director of the Aquatic Physical Therapy Program for the Colorado Easter Seal Society. Additionally, Robin was an Interim Clinical Instructor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. More recently, she was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Rhode Island and worked in the university’s orthopedic clinic with dry-land and aquatic patients.
Robin is a member and certified clinical instructor of the American Physical Therapy Association and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine.
She does volunteer activities for the alumni mentoring programs at Boston University and the University of Denver, The Arthritis Foundation, and The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Robin is currently developing a specific program to address acute back injuries. See our brochure that describes our new Aquatic Therapy for Acute Care/Low Back Injuries (pdf)...
