Unemployment Benefits may be available for Federal Employees who are impacted by the Federal Government Shutdown.

IMPORTANT: If congress later authorizes retroactive payments, it could potentially result in an overpayment of Unemployment Insurance benefits. If this is the case, you will be required to pay back these funds.

Tips to Filing

  • Fax the following documentation to 401-462-8506
      • SF8
      • SF50
      • Last paystub received in September and December of 2017 AND
        March, June, and September of 2018 (total of 5 paystubs)

      *** These documents are available in your federal account

  • When providing your employment history online
    • List the employer address of where you physically report to work
    • Do not list a corporate or headquarter address

  • When will I receive my first payment?
    • The first 7 days of your claim is an unpaid waiting period
    • The second week will be paid when we have received and processed the necessary documentation outlined above

  • Can I file my claim in Rhode Island?
    Between 10/1/17 and 9/30/18 did you earn:
    • Federal Wages Only: your claim must be filed in the state where you were last officially stationed
    • Federal Wages & Other Rhode Island Employer Wages: your claim can be filed in Rhode Island regardless of where you were last officially stationed
