Unemployment Rate Remains at 7.7 percent in August 2014 Jobs up 100 from July - DLT announced today that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Aug. 2014 remained at 7.7 percent, unchanged from the July 2014 rate and down one and nine-tenths percentage points from the Aug. 2013 rate. Requirement for New UI Claimants to Post Résumés is Now in Effect. DLT Is Taking Several Steps to Inform Customers of Requirement — and to Help Customers Follow It Faster - Effective this past Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, unemployed Rhode Islanders filing for Unemployment Insurance for the first time must post their résumés to www.EmployRI.org within six consecutive weeks of collecting UI benefits. DLT Is Encouraging UI Claimants at 16-Week Mark of Claim to Visit netWORKri Centers to Find Work Faster - As part of its continuing effort to help unemployed Rhode Islanders find new work faster, the DLT announced today that has begun notifying beneficiaries of unemployment insurance (UI) who have been collecting payments for 16 weeks that they have 10 weeks or less of benefits before their claims expire.
