Careers in STEM

Download (pdf)

Encompassing the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, STEM careers are often
considered to be the jobs of the future. STEM workers use their knowledge of these subjects to try to understand how the world works and to solve its problems.

During the 2014 to 2024 Projection Period for Rhode Island, employment in STEM occupations is projected to grow at about 13 percent, much faster than the 7.8 percent growth rate projected for all occupations in the state. During the projection period RI employers will seek to fi ll over 9,000 openings resulting from both occupational growth and the need to replace workers who leave their occupation.
