Community Health Workers
are generally considered to be frontline public health workers. They are trusted members of or have a close
understanding of the community they serve. This relationship enables these workers to minimize social and
cultural barriers between community, health and social service institutions.
Community Health Workers often act as a bridge to complement and enhance
the work performed by many other
health and social service professionals.
