PRIVACY & CONFIDENTIALITY PRACTICES

It is the Donley Center policy to maintain the security and privacy of health care information and to limit authorized access to personally identifiable, confidential health care information to those persons or entities permitted under the Rhode Island Confidentiality of Health Care Information Act, RIGL 5-37.3-1 et seq. (1994).

Under the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Law, all information on an injured worker may be released to the worker’s physician, attorney, insurance carrier, and Workers’ Compensation Court.

Workers’ Compensation Cases do not fall under the 1996 HIPAA regulations; however, here at the Donley Center, we have taken many proactive steps to safeguard patient confidentiality.
