Unemployment Rate Drops to 8.7 percent in March - DLT announced today that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2014 dropped to 8.7 percent, down three-tenths of a percentage point from the February 2014 rate and down eight-tenths of a percentage point from the March 2013 rate. Fourth Quarter Job Numbers 2,100 Greater Than Originally Estimated - The Dept. of Labor and Training’s most recent analysis of fourth quarter tax data indicates that Rhode Island job growth is greater than originally estimated, with 2,100 more jobs than first reported in December 2013. Read more

Unemployment Rate Drops to 9.0 percent in February; 1,500 new RI-based jobs created - The RI Dept. of Labor and Training announced today that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Feb. 2014 dropped to 9.0 percent, down two-tenths of a percentage point from the January 2014 rate and down half of a percentage point from the February 2013 rate. Unemployment Rate Drops to 9.2 percent in January; 3,800 new RI-based jobs created - The RI Dept. of Labor and Training announced today that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Jan. 2014 dropped to 9.2 percent, down one-tenth of a percentage point from the revised Dec. 2013 rate and down four-tenths of a percentage point from the Jan. 2013 rate. Potential Job Scam Identified - Late yesterday, the RI Dept. of Labor and Training learned that an unknown person or persons fraudulently used an employer's identification information to impersonate a business. The fictitious employer contacted approximately 300 users of DLT's online career center, EmployRI.org, to request that they set up Yahoo Instant Messenger accounts and import personal information.
