Department of Labor and Training informs Unemployment and Temporary Disability Customers about Distribution of Bogus Text Messages October 7, 2009 |
The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training warns its unemployment insurance and temporary disability insurance customers to be on the alert for bogus text messages claiming that the department has canceled their benefit payment cards. The department has received several complaints today about Rhode Islanders receiving these text messages. The Department of Labor and Training is not the originator of these messages nor has it authorized these messages; moreover, as current policy, it does not communicate to its customers in a text messaging format. Department representatives advise any customers receiving these texts NOT to respond to them and, more importantly, NOT to give out any personal information. ### |
