CRANSTON— Whole Foods Market has partnered with the Employer Service Unit, a division of the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, to fill positions for their new Cranston store, which is scheduled to open in October. Whole Foods Market is the world's leading retailer of natural and organic foods with 176 stores nationwide. Two hundred full- and part-time positions are available, including cooks, cashiers, counter help, bankers, receivers and porters.

Working closely with Whole Foods representatives, the Department of Labor and Training's Employer Service Unit has helped organize three recruitments to be held at Garden City in Cranston. The recruitments will take place: Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM; Thursday, Sept. 13 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM; and Saturday, Sept.15 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the store front next to Ann Taylor Loft. Applicants must pre-register online at www.wholefoods.com before attending the recruitment. Recruitment attendees should also bring copies of their résumé.

The Employer Service Unit's ten representatives provide the business community with information on the services, programs and grant opportunities offered through the RI Department of Labor and Training. Last year, the Employer Service Unit organized or assisted with 935 recruitment or job fair events for employers in retail, manufacturing, agriculture, shipping, banking, food, medical, airline and publishing. Employer Service Representatives (ESRs) advised 2,537 customers and posted 2,300 job vacancies via the jobs hotline. ESRs are available to meet with employers, individually or in groups, to provide information on grants or tax credits to train their existing workforce or how to best fill vacancies.
