The RI Department of Labor and Training is actively seeking to enroll more job seekers in the Virtual Recruiter application of EmployRI.org, the online job search tool kit offered by the RI Department of Labor and Training.
EmployRI.org is the online host for a series of free job seeker services, including a jobs database, a résumé builder, and a work-related skills assessment. Through the EmployRI Virtual Recruiter application, job seekers first enter their preferred job search criteria, which generate a list of matching job opportunities. Once those job seekers save their search criteria, they can easily program Virtual Recruiter to forward any future job matches to their personal EmployRI account. They can even choose to have Virtual Recruiter automatically apply to jobs that match their skill sets.
“The Virtual Recruiter application in EmployRI.org can screen thousands of job listings to find those that are a strong match for your unique skills,” says Director Sandra M. Powell of the RI Department of Labor and Training. “Best of all, it’s a free service, accessible from any computer with an internet connection.
In 2010, nearly 25,000 people used EmployRI to search for employment. Only 700 of those people, however, chose the Virtual Recruiter function to send listings to their personal EmployRI accounts. “As more elements of the traditional job search migrate to the World Wide Web, Rhode Island job seekers need new tools to help them sort through the wealth of information available online,” says Powell. “We are encouraging more people to sign up for Virtual Recruiter because it can make online job searches more targeted and more comprehensive in a minimal amount of time.”
All EmployRI services, including Virtual Recruiter, are available at the secure web site, www.employri.org. Additional job services, including workshops and one-on-one career counseling, are available through the netWORKri career one-stop centers in Pawtucket, Providence, West Warwick and Woonsocket.
