The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training and netWORKri Career One-Stop System will host free a résumé workshop for area job seekers at the Florence Gray Center, One York St., Newport, on Tuesday, May 18 from 10 am to 12 noon. (This workshop has been moved from its previous location at East Bay Community Action Program.)
While the résumé workshops are open to all Rhode Island job seekers, their primary audience is Newport County residents who are unable or do not wish to travel to one of the state’s four netWORKri career centers. Until recently, the Department of Labor and Training provided job seeker services to area residents through a part-time Middletown-based satellite. That satellite has temporarily closed, and will reopen in a new location on the island later this year.
The workshop will cover best practices for résumé language and formatting. Staff from netWORKri will also discuss how a job candidate can promote his or her potential value to an employer, and can employ key words to maximize his or her chances of interview selection. Pre-registration is mandatory and may be completed by telephone at (401) 462-8992.
