Statement from Raymond Filippone, Assistant Director of Income Support, regarding the federal extension of unemployment insurance benefits:
March 3, 2010 |
Rhode Island has received notification that the federal unemployment insurance extended benefit program known as Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) has been extended through April 5, 2010. This program had been slated to end last Sunday, February 28, and was momentarily put on hold until Congress approved an extension last night. The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training wants to reassure all unemployment insurance claimants that Congress’s recent delay in approving this benefit extension will not affect customer payments this week or in the foreseeable future. Any claim held pending the outcome of the extension debate will now be processed.
