DLT to Offer Rapid Response Services Tomorrow to Workers Laid off by Women & Infants Hospital

February 23, 2015

The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training is encouraging workers affected by the layoffs announced today by Women & Infants Hospital to attend a Rapid Response orientation session tomorrow, Tuesday, February 24.

DLT's Rapid Response Unit has scheduled a session at 10 AM at the Providence netWORKri One Stop Career Center, located at One Reservoir Avenue. DLT will offer additional sessions as required.

DLT requests that Women & Infants' employees who wish to attend please RSVP to 888-616-JOBS (5627) so that DLT representatives may be prepared with the right forms and information for their convenience.

Rapid Response team members will guide affected employees toward Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits, available re-employment services, and job search activities. A representative of HealthSourceRI will present information regarding health insurance options. A representative of the US Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration will be available to answer questions about workers' 401(k) and retirement plans.

DLT offers re-employment services to all employees affected by layoffs at its four netWORKri offices. These include:

  • Self-directed or staff-assisted job searches;
  • Access to recruitments and job fairs;
  • Job skills and résumé writing workshops;
  • Career counseling and help registering in the EmployRI virtual job and skills-matching portal; and
  • Online training, classroom training, and on-the-job training options.
