Oversees employer-provided insurance for statutory employee benefits
due to a work-related injury or illness. The Education Unit is sponsoring these seminars which will provide essential information about the RI Workers’ Compensation system, including the Workers’ Compensation Court, and compliance assistance with the appropriate safety and health standards issues by OSHA. Please select the program which most closely matches your business type. The Workers’ Compensation component will be repeated, however the safety presentation will be directed toward the specific industry listed by the event date.

An array of resources is available to benefit your business. The Department of Labor and Training has teamed with the Economic Development
Corporation to boost your bottom line. Learn about Tax Credits, Occupational
Wage Levels and Grants for Employee Training from the Employer Service
Team.

TDI
provides benefits to insured RI workers for unemployment that is caused
by illness or disability that is not work-related. Learn about recent
improvements to the TDI System that align the interests of the worker,
employer and medical community.

UI provides benefits to insured and eligible persons who are out of work
through no fault of their own. Learn who qualifies for benefits,
how UI impacts your tax rate and what defines “out of work through
no fault of their own.” Learn how, when and why UI claims are deemed
eligible.

Labor Standards investigates complaints
and compliance with state labor laws. Learn how to maintain adequate
wage records, when to pay time and a half, determine mandatory employee
breaks, hire teens or fire employees. Understand how to honor legal holidays
and display properly workforce information posters.

Enforces mandated health and safety standards for devices such as
boilers and elevators; for hazardous substances; and for public buildings
and educational facilities. Discover the proper use, storage and
record keeping for hazardous substances. Understand how you are responsible
for the health and safety of your employees, customers and the general
public. Learn about trade license requirements and the mandated 10-hour
construction safety program. Understand how apprenticeship programs may
assure a skilled workforce for the future.

Training designed specifically for medical office staff. Learn
how to complete Workers’ Compensation and/or Temporary Disability
Insurance paperwork. Understand RI Workers’ Compensation Medical
Advisory Board protocols and WC fee schedules. Become familiar with work
hardening and physical rehabilitation services available from the Donley
Rehabilitation Center. |
